So, I know 2 days isn’t anything in the hosting world. Especially with people posting 9 year reviews, but in my opinion CleverKite definitely deserves my applause.

These guys are absolutely, undeniably amazing. I’m talking, 6 minute pre-sales question responses after hours on a Friday! My VS was provisioned instantly, and it is extremely powerful. No lag, very very low CPU loads, no ram issues, no disk I/O issues. There really isn’t anything else I can say.

For a new startup, they have everything right. CleverKite is going to be big.

I’ve had a VPS at cleverkite.com for a few weeks now and it’s been pretty awesome. They mentioned this forum as a place to provide feedback on their service so here I am. I think this is the right section to post in but if not please move it thanks.

I’m currently studying EECS at UC Berkeley and one of their reps passed around some flyers to beta test a VPS in an IT class so I signed up. I believe one of the founders is related to Cal in some way but I’m not entirely sure.

I’m signed up on the Mini plan and using it for some private development purposes. Things are really fast on the server and compiling software is much quicker than previous virtual environments I’ve used on campus. I believe it’s only gone down once so far for a few minutes. It wasn’t that long and I’m not hosting anything mission critical on it so I didn’t inquire about the downtime. The management frequently handles tickets (and quickly too) which is very nice.

All in all, at these prices service is wonderful and I think I’ll keep my VPS with them for the long term.

CleverKite.com is a new VPS hosting startup created by Orien Wu. He’s a little younger than I am (about 1-2 years) but don’t let his age fool you. He is a Community Liaison or something at WHT, and he worked for Site5 before starting CleverKite. Anyways, I’m usually very, very cautious when dealing with new companies, but Orien’s reputation made me feel safer so I took the plunge.

I ordered the lowest plan and the VPS was set up very quickly, within the hour that I ordered. CleverKite has their own type of support that they call “Clever Support”, which is basically managed but they do not guarantee any fixes. This troubled me at first, but not too much since I’m used to managing my own servers even though I’m no Linux guru. I decided to try out their support and within a few tickets I was highly impressed.

Orien and his team not only know what they’re talking about, but their replies were so fast that it kind of scared me. Also, I got fast responses at all times of the day from morning until 2AM. How can they respond to and solve my tickets so fast? I personally think they’re using some sort of black magic, but whatever it is, it’s great. Also, Orien himself is VERY customer oriented. His responses are professional and friendly, and best of all, he actually LISTENS to clients. I gave a few suggestions about supporting 64bit OS and Arch Linux, and within a few days he had fulfilled both those requests.

The VPS itself is very fast and responsive. Wielding 16 cores, it easily handles anything I throw at it. This site and a few of my other projects are hosted on the VPS, and everything has been top notch so far. Within this month I haven’t had a single downtime, so things are looking good. I haven’t run any benchmarks on it, but if anyone wants to recommend a good benchmarking tool I’d be happy to post some results.

For those of you too lazy to read everything, here’s a summary: CleverKite is a new company but they bring the professionalism, performance, and support of an experienced and well-aged company. Their VPS are very fast and they don’t oversell. Support is friendly, fast, and effective.

After my order. I receive a welcome email and inmediatly check the VPS working already, i order a Cpanel license in few minutes i received and email that my license was issued and ready for use i requested that i want to make the installation myself (installation was fast) Average load time for my VPS with apache 0.6 0.2 after litespeed load time 0.01-0.02 few sites now on the VPS.

Test (135MB/s look good for me)

Support tickets i have submit 4 and all of them have been solved in less than 5 minutes the one that took longer was to set Reverse DNS and that one took 15 minutes solved by Orien Wu. I highly recommend CleverKite Service the service provided until now have been great.
